We were proud to see Corban Coxon from Tombleson Logging win the Generation Programme Graduate of the Year (sponsored by South Waikato District Council) at the 2023 Central North Island Wood Council Forestry Awards.
Corban joined Tombleson Logging in November after completing his Generation Programme forestry course. Since then, Corban has demonstrated great potential and impressed us with his commitment to personal growth, making him a deserving winner of this award.
The awards had a record number of nominations and an audience of 500 at the Energy Centre Rotorua, hosted by MC Pio Terei. It was heartening to hear Rotorua Mayor Tania Tapsell say that Rotorua was the epicentre of forestry contributing $314.7 million in 2022 to the local GDP across forestry, logging and processing.
“Forestry is part of our DNA and we have an exciting future ahead of us despite the current challenges. Our most important assets are our land and our people,” she said
Well done on your win, Corban!
