About
Tombleson Logging is a forward-thinking, family-owned forestry company, established in 2002. Our head office is in Taupo and our five crews operate in central North Island, Whangarei and Auckland.
We’re passionate about two things: our people and the forestry industry. We’re committed to doing what we can to mentor and upskill our team, personally and professionally, and to give back and develop the forestry industry where possible.
We spend a lot of our time trying new things, fine-tuning processes and innovating to find a better way. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t! But we’ll never stop trying to improve the way we operate and do business. That’s how our mechanised thinnings operation came about — read the Logger magazine story about that here.
We’re big believers in investing in our gear, new technology, and our people. For us, it’s really important that our team are supported to be the best they can be, which includes a collaborative approach to work, a strong workplace culture, and on-going development and training. All of our operators are qualified beyond industry standards — many of them have 4x the necessary certification.

ABOUT DIRECTOR NICK TOMBLESON:
Nick leapt into a forestry job the moment he left school at 16. Two decades later, his enthusiasm for the industry hasn’t waned. Today, he leads the company he and his family set up in 2002 (Leigh still works in the business but has handed the reins to Nick) and has set himself high standards — for both the business and himself personally.
Nick thrives on a challenge and has a thirst for knowledge and self-improvement which sees him regularly putting his hand up to complete relevant courses. His driving motivation is to be able to use his skills and knowledge to improve the business and the way they work with clients, and to better help his employees and others in the industry.
Nick is a Safetree / HFM certified tree faller and industry accessor. He’s also the contractor representative for the HFM Northern Safety Committee and Board member for FICA and on the Forestry and Wood Processing Council as the representative for harvesting contractors.
